About me

I am registered psychiatric nurse and currently the nursing discipline senior at Austin Health Child and Youth Mental Health service with over 30 years experience. Hospital trained from the UK with Bachelor of Applied Science in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nursing from RMIT and Master of Advanced Nursing Practice ( Mental Health) from the University of Melbourne.
I am also a Clinical Family Therapist (AAFT) with Post Graduate Diploma in Family and System Therapy from Bouverie Family Centre ( La Trobe University). I have authored two articles in peer reviewed journals in Child and adolescent mental health and presented at several conferences.

My experience

My experiences has been mainly in Child, Adolescent and Family mental health in the last 25 years. I have worked in inpatients and community services with most psychiatric presentations. I have experience in Adolescent Forensic health having worked at Parkville Youth Centre as a clinician and manager. My previous experiences have included various roles in adult and geriatric services in the UK and Australia.

My current role/work

My current is a senior clinician in the Adolescent Intensive management team at Austin Health. This is a program to provided therapy and support to adolescent and their families who struggle to engage with office based services.
I am also the nursing discipline senior in CYMHS, part of the leadership and assisting in the development of the service. I also provide supervision to nurses in the broader service and to other clinicians in my team.

My training

I have completed a certificate in systemic supervision with the Bouverie Centre ( La Trobe University).
I have also participated a number of short courses on supervision through the University of Melbourne and Monash university.

My approach to supervision

My approach to Supervision is systemic and psychodynamic oriented. This is a supportive approach focusing on the impact on the self and what we can learn from this.
